Job Description
The Restoration Laborer supports restoration projects by performing hands-on work related to water extraction, drying, cleaning, and debris removal in residential and commercial properties. This role is responsible for removing standing water, setting up and operating drying and dehumidification equipment, cleaning and sanitizing affected areas, and ensuring that worksites remain organized and safe.
The position requires strong physical stamina, attention to safety standards, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ideal candidates are dependable, self-motivated, and demonstrate professionalism in conduct and appearance. Proficiency with basic hand and power tools, as well as familiarity with restoration or demolition work, is preferred.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Restoration Laborer plays a key role in ensuring timely and high-quality restoration services while maintaining the company’s commitment to safety, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.
Key Accountabilities
Water Extraction and Removal:
- Use pumps, wet vacuums, and extractors to remove standing water from affected areas.
Drying and Dehumidification:
- Set up and operate drying equipment such as air movers, dehumidifiers, and HEPA air filtration devices.
Debris and Material Removal:
- Remove damaged materials such as carpeting, drywall, and insulation.
- Affected materials are disposed of properly.
- Clean up and organize the jobsite.
Cleaning and Sanitization:
- Clean and sanitize surfaces and contents affected by water damage to prevent mold and bacterial growth.
- Apply antimicrobial treatments to prevent future contamination.
Adherence to Safety Standards:
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Conduct regular safety checks on the worksite.
- Report any unsafe conditions or incidents to the supervisor.
Inventory, Vehicle, and Equipment Maintenance:
- Maintain an accurate inventory of supplies and materials.
- Clean and restock company vehicles daily.
- Thoroughly clean, inspect, and maintain equipment.
- Clean and stock shop areas.
Teamwork:
- Partners with all TRT staff to generate and implement ideas that promote the health and growth of the company.
- Builds trust, cooperation, and commitment to achieving mutual goals. Confronts issues as necessary.
Dependability:
- Consistently acts upon instructions from the President and uses good judgment in situations requiring independent decision-making.

The Water Restoration Technician plays a crucial role in disaster recovery by mitigating water damage in residential and commercial properties. This position exists to respond to emergencies, perform water extraction, drying, and dehumidification, ensuring swift recovery and preventing further structural damage. The technician adds value by restoring properties to their pre-loss condition, minimizing client downtime and safeguarding long-term asset integrity for the business.
Key Accountabilities
Emergency Response and Assessment:
- Respond promptly to emergency calls related to water damage.
- Assess the extent and cause of water damage upon arrival at the site.
- Document the initial conditions with photographs and detailed notes for insurance and client records.
Water Extraction and Removal:
- Use specialized equipment to extract standing water from floors, carpets, and other surfaces.
- Implement methods to remove water from less accessible areas, such as walls and crawl spaces.
- Ensure all water is effectively removed to prevent further damage.
Drying and Dehumidification:
- Set-up and operate drying equipment such as air movers, dehumidifiers, and fans.
- Monitor and adjust drying equipment to optimize the drying process.
- Utilize moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras to track drying progress and identify hidden moisture.
Cleaning and Sanitization:
- Clean and disinfect affected areas to remove contaminants and prevent mold and bacteria growth.
- Apply antimicrobial treatments to surfaces and materials that have been exposed to water.
- Clean and restore personal belongings and furniture affected by water damage.
Mold Prevention and Remediation:
- Inspect for mold growth in water-damaged areas.
- Contain and remove mold-infested materials safely.
- Apply mold inhibitors and ensure proper ventilation to prevent future mold problems.
Structural Drying and Restoration:
- Dry and stabilize structural components like walls, floors, and ceilings.
- Support repair and reconstruction efforts by preparing the site and ensuring it is dry and safe.
Content Restoration:
- Catalog and pack out damaged items for cleaning and restoration.
- Use specialized equipment and techniques to restore valuable or sentimental items.
- Coordinate with restoration specialists for items requiring specialized attention (e.g., electronics, documents).
Hazard Management:
- Identify and manage potential hazards such as electrical risks, contaminants, and structural instability.
- Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Set-up containment areas to isolate affected zones and prevent cross-contamination.
Customer Interaction and Communication:
- Communicate with property owners to explain the restoration process and expected outcomes.
- Provide regular updates on progress and address any concerns or questions
- Coordinate with insurance adjusters, contractors, and other stakeholders as needed.
Moisture Detection and Documentation:
- Use advanced tools to detect hidden moisture and assess moisture levels.
- Document the water damage and restoration process for insurance claims and client records.
- Keep detailed logs of equipment used and progress made during the restoration.
